NatWest High Street, Rayleigh

Main contractors

Strongroom and vault demolition, then a full strip-out of the ground and first floors, at the NatWest building on Rayleigh High Street.

Project overview

R.E.B Group was appointed to carry out specialist strip-out works at 43 High Street, Rayleigh, removing the existing strongroom and vault installations alongside a full internal strip-out of the ground and first floors.

The project called for a coordinated approach to removing substantial security infrastructure, redundant fixtures and internal finishes, preparing the building for its next phase of redevelopment.

Scope of works

  • Removal and disposal of the existing vault and strongroom walls and doors
  • Removal of a redundant safe and internal racking
  • Ground-floor strip-out, including floor coverings, ceilings and partitions
  • First-floor strip-out, including floor coverings, ceilings and partitions
  • Removal of further partitions and flooring to the rear
  • Removal of security window grilles where required
  • Waste removal and cart-away from site
  • Coordinating access for the removal of large items and equipment

The challenge: removing a strongroom

The key challenge was removing the existing vault and strongroom structures, including heavy security doors and a redundant safe. These needed a considered demolition method and careful planning of how everything would come out.

Access was critical: whether specialist demolition equipment could be used depended on the doorway dimensions. Waste removal, site logistics and the sequencing of the strongroom demolition all had to be coordinated with the wider strip-out.

Our approach

We combined specialist demolition with a systematic strip-out of the remaining internal areas, taking the strongroom installations out in a controlled sequence before completing the wider strip-out.

Equipment access, the removal of the external door and frame where needed, and the practical requirements for skips, power and site welfare were all planned in.

Project outcome

The project shows R.E.B Group delivering a complex commercial strip-out that included specialist strongroom demolition, heavy material removal and a full internal clearance, with access and logistics coordinated throughout, leaving the building ready for its next stage of redevelopment.
