Project overview

R.E.B Group was appointed by Haverbridge Homes to undertake the demolition and enabling works at The Cranleigh in Hornchurch.

The project involved the controlled demolition of the existing superstructure, including associated hardstanding, boundary walls, slab and strip foundations, together with the preparation and securing of the site for the next phase of development.

Scope of works

• Asbestos survey
• Demolition and removal of the existing superstructure
• Removal of 150mm unreinforced concrete slab
• Removal of boundary walls and hardstanding
• Removal of strip foundations to the agreed depth
• Backfilling of foundations with crushed concrete where applicable
• Installation of 2.4m high WBP plywood hoarding
• Installation of mesh gates and pedestrian access gate
• Protective scaffolding to the front elevation and returns
• Site clearance and cart-away of demolition materials
• Provision of welfare facilities

The challenge: site protection and logistics

A key consideration for the project was maintaining safe and controlled access around the site while demolition activities were undertaken.

The works required protective scaffolding to the front elevation and returns, together with substantial site hoarding to provide secure separation between the demolition area and the surrounding environment.

R.E.B Group planned the works as a single continuous demolition operation, allowing the site to be cleared efficiently and prepared for the subsequent construction phase.

Our approach

Our approach combined controlled demolition techniques with careful site segregation and protection.

The existing structure and associated external elements were systematically demolished and removed, with suitable measures incorporated to maintain a secure working environment throughout the operation.

The installation of new hoarding, pedestrian access and protective scaffolding provided the required separation and protection while allowing the demolition works to progress efficiently.

Project outcome

R.E.B Group delivered a complete demolition and enabling package for Haverbridge Homes, leaving the site cleared, secured and ready for the next stage of development.
