R.E.B Group was appointed to undertake the demolition and clearance of a fire-damaged garage following an arson incident at Ottawa Road, Tilbury.
The works involved the removal of the asbestos-containing roof, demolition of the remaining four walls and clearance of the resulting debris. The existing concrete slab was retained, and the site was secured following completion of the demolition works.
Scope of works

The challenge – fire damage & safe demolition
Following the arson incident, the garage structure had sustained significant fire damage, leaving the remaining structure requiring demolition.
The presence of an asbestos-containing roof required careful consideration during the removal process before the remaining walls could be demolished. The works also needed to be completed efficiently while ensuring the resulting area was left clear and secure.
Our approach
R.E.B Group undertook the works in a planned sequence, starting with the removal of the asbestos roof before proceeding with the demolition of the four remaining walls.
Once demolition was complete, the resulting debris was cleared from site, with the existing concrete slab retained as required. Three sheets of plywood hoarding were installed to secure the exposed area and help prevent unauthorised access.
The entire package was completed over two half-day working periods, demonstrating an efficient and coordinated response to an urgent demolition requirement.
