Hallfield Estate, London
Supply and installation of temporary column propping across Bridgewater House, Brecon House and Clovelly House.
Project brief
R.E.B were appointed to undertake the supply and installation of temporary works column propping across three properties forming part of the Hallfield Project.
The works comprised the provision and installation of TW Column Propping at Bridgewater House, Brecon House and Clovelly House, providing temporary structural support in accordance with the requirements of the temporary works design.
The project was delivered as a defined, single-phase package covering the three buildings.
Scope of works
R.E.B's scope was specifically focused on the supply and installation of the temporary column propping system.
The works were allocated across the three properties as follows:
- Bridgewater House: TW Column Propping
- Brecon House: TW Column Propping
- Clovelly House: TW Column Propping
Temporary works
The principal requirement was the installation of temporary structural support through the use of TW column propping.
The temporary works design was identified as being provided by others, with R.E.B's scope centred on the supply and installation of the specified propping arrangement.
This allowed the project to maintain a clearly defined division between the temporary works design responsibility and the physical installation works undertaken by R.E.B.
Multi-property delivery
A key feature of the Hallfield Project was the requirement to undertake the same specialist scope across three separate properties:
- Bridgewater House
- Brecon House
- Clovelly House
The works were therefore required to be coordinated across multiple locations while maintaining a consistent approach to the installation of the temporary propping system.
Programme & site requirements
The quotation allowed for the works to be undertaken:
- During normal working hours
- In one continuous phase
- Without an allowance for noisy works or loading restrictions
The scope was limited to the temporary propping works described within the quotation, with any additional requirements outside the agreed scope to be treated separately.
Project considerations
The works were delivered within a clearly defined temporary works package.
The quotation specifically noted that:
- The TW design was by others
- No works or making good to surrounding areas were included
- Any additional works beyond the described scope would require separate costing
- The works were intended to be completed during normal working hours
These parameters provided a clear definition of R.E.B's responsibilities within the wider project.
Project outcome
R.E.B's involvement on the Hallfield Project centred on the supply and installation of temporary column propping across Bridgewater House, Brecon House and Clovelly House.
The works represented a focused temporary works package, with R.E.B providing the labour, plant, materials, hire and delivery/collection requirements necessary to complete the installation across the three properties.
