Project overview

R.E.B Group was initially appointed by Axis Europe to undertake structural remedial works at a single residential property within its Westminster housing portfolio.

Following the successful delivery of the initial works and the client's satisfaction with our performance, the relationship developed into a wider programme, with R.E.B Group subsequently undertaking works across approximately 30 properties.

The projects involved strengthening existing roof structures, carrying out structural alterations and completing associated remedial works to help maintain the safety and structural integrity of the properties.

Scope of works

R.E.B Group's works included:

• Strengthening existing roof structures and timber roof members
• Installation of structural steelwork and supporting components
• Installation of horizontal ties and additional roof supports
• Temporary propping and back-propping to support existing structures during the works
• Structural alterations and associated masonry repairs
• Removal of selected internal finishes to facilitate structural access
• Localised demolition and reinstatement works
• Safe removal of waste and management of materials throughout the programme

The challenge – working within occupied residential properties

A key challenge was delivering structural remedial works across multiple residential properties, many of which required careful coordination around existing occupants and restricted working areas.

Roof strengthening works required access to loft spaces and existing structural members, often involving the installation of temporary supports before permanent strengthening measures could be completed.

Working within occupied homes also meant coordinating access with residents, protecting internal finishes and maintaining safe access routes throughout the works. Effective planning and communication with Axis Europe were essential to minimise disruption and ensure each property was approached according to its individual requirements.

Our approach

R.E.B Group adopted a coordinated, property-by-property approach, working closely with Axis Europe's project team to plan access, sequence activities and deliver the required structural repairs.

Temporary works, including Acrow props and Strongboys where specified, were installed to support existing structures during the remedial process. Permanent strengthening measures were then undertaken in accordance with the relevant project requirements.

Our teams also carried out associated demolition, masonry and reinstatement works, providing Axis Europe with a flexible and reliable contractor capable of managing multiple elements of the repair process.

Project outcome

What began as a single instruction developed into an ongoing working relationship, with R.E.B Group completing works across approximately 30 properties.

The repeat appointments demonstrate the value Axis Europe placed on our workmanship, reliability and ability to deliver specialist structural remedial works within residential environments.
